Honey Buffalo Chicken Legs

Ingredients

  • chicken legs
  • kosher salt
  • black pepper
  • Bam Bam chicken rub
  • tater tots
  • Frank's RedHot sauce
  • honey (about 1 cup)
  • garlic powder
  • white pepper
  • black pepper (for sauce)
  • crushed red pepper flakes
  • brown sugar
  • orange zest
  • juice of 1 orange
  • butter
  • celery sticks
  • carrot sticks
  • ranch dressing (or blue cheese)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Season chicken legs with kosher salt, black pepper, and Bam Bam chicken rub.
  3. Roast chicken legs at 450°F for about 60 minutes until crispy.
  4. Bake tater tots in the oven per package directions while the chicken cooks.
  5. Make the sauce: Add Frank's RedHot to a pan, then stir in honey, garlic powder, white pepper, black pepper, crushed red pepper, brown sugar, orange zest, and the juice of the orange.
  6. Finish sauce with butter and heat until butter melts and the sauce is smooth and combined.
  7. Transfer sauce to a bowl or pan and set aside.
  8. Toss crispy chicken legs in the honey buffalo sauce to coat.
  9. Plate with celery and carrot sticks, add a scoop of tater tots, and serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing.
