Cheesy Sloppy Joe Texas Toast

Completed

Ingredients

  • Frozen garlic Texas toast (6–8 slices)
  • Ground beef (1 lb)
  • Sloppy Joe sauce (1 can, ~15 oz)
  • Provolone cheese slices (6–8 slices)

Steps

  1. Arrange {{Frozen garlic Texas toast:6–8 slices}} on a baking sheet and bake at 425°F per package directions until golden, about 5–8 minutes.
  2. While the toast bakes, brown {{Ground beef:1 lb}} in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up; drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in {{Sloppy Joe sauce:1 can}} and simmer 2–3 minutes to thicken.
  4. Remove toast from oven; using the back of a spoon, gently press the centers to make a shallow well in each slice.
  5. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture (from {{Ground beef:1 lb}} + {{Sloppy Joe sauce:1 can}}) into each toast well, dividing evenly.
  6. Top each with {{Provolone cheese slices:6–8 slices}} (one slice per toast).
  7. Return to the 425°F oven and bake 5–10 minutes, until cheese is melted and edges are toasty.
  8. Serve hot.
