Bacon Beef Baked Beans

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cans (28 oz each) original baked beans
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 4 tbsp barbecue sauce
  • 4 tbsp yellow mustard
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Onion powder, to taste
  • Garlic powder, to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Add {{bacon:1/2 lb}} to a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat and cook, stirring, until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the fat in the pan.
  3. Sauté {{yellow onion:1 medium, diced}}, {{green bell pepper:1, diced}}, and {{garlic:3 cloves, minced}} in the bacon fat until translucent and softened.
  4. Add {{ground beef:1 lb}} and season with {{salt:to taste}}, {{black pepper:to taste}}, {{onion powder:to taste}}, and {{garlic powder:to taste}}. Cook, breaking up the meat, until browned.
  5. Drain excess grease from the skillet.
  6. Stir in {{soy sauce:1 tbsp}}, {{Worcestershire sauce:1 tbsp}}, and {{baked beans:2 cans (28 oz each)}}. Season the beans with {{salt:to taste}}, {{black pepper:to taste}}, {{garlic powder:to taste}}, and {{onion powder:to taste}}. Add {{brown sugar:1/4 cup}}, return {{bacon:cooked 1/2 lb}}, and mix in {{sweet pickle relish:4 tbsp}}, {{barbecue sauce:4 tbsp}}, and {{yellow mustard:4 tbsp}} until combined.
  7. Transfer the skillet (or mixture to an oven-safe dish) to the oven and bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove, stir, and serve hot.
